Krãsis is a serie of four video portraits of opera singers in monumental format interpreting a baroque aria at the peak of passion.
All four films are static shots that each last approximately five minutes.....
Each portrait captures and amplifies the emotional exposure and vulnerability of the singer. Thus, the aria can express its full potential, unsettling and transforming. At first, the observer witnesses four isolated individuals on the edge of reason, caught in a moment of rare intensity. Then, coming closer, the quartet reveals itself. What appeared as separate images and distinct emotions starts to form a balanced system. The audience experiences the humanist theory of affects that baroque composers used to influence body and soul through music: the harmony of opposites, or krãsis.
