一项“死亡病毒”的秘密实验是个致命的错误。《生化危机》这部影片改编自广受欢迎的PS上的电视游戏系列，是一部情节紧张的惊悚片。由主演过《第五元素》(“The Fifth Element”)的米拉-乔沃维奇(Milla Jovovich)、米歇尔-罗德里格兹(Michelle Rodriguez，曾主演过《速度与激情》“The Fast and the Furious”)和埃里克-马比乌斯(Eric Mabius，曾主演过《危险性游戏》“Cruel Intentions”)担纲主演，讲述了爆发在善良与邪恶、人类与计算机、活人与僵尸之间的较量。
在保护伞公司(Umbrella Corporation)的老巢——“蜂巢”(Hive)的巨大地下遗传研究中心时暗藏着某种可怕的事情，在这里聚集着神秘的生物工程学家。一种致命的病毒爆发了，并快速地传播着。“红色女皇”——台控制和监视着整个“蜂巢”的超级巨型计算机把整个中心都封闭了起来，甚至包括很小的漏洞，“杀死”了所有被困在里边的工作人员。
暂时失忆的艾丽斯(Alice，米拉-乔沃维奇饰)在自己的浴室中醒来，先后遇到了Matt（Eric Mabius)与雷恩(Rain，米歇尔-罗德里格兹饰)等人组成的特遣队。特遣队逮捕了Matt,带着他和Alice进入“蜂巢”并关闭红色女皇。然而，队员们很快发现这些工作人员们并不是真正地死去了。他们现在已成为徘徊在“蜂巢”内贪婪的象僵尸一样的活死人。人们一旦被他们咬一口或被他们抓伤就会受到感染，甚至立即变成他们一类的人。
艾丽斯和她的特遣队有3个小时来完成他们的任务，否则这些僵尸们将泛滥成灾，对整个地球构成威胁。其间，爱丽丝的记忆不断闪回，事实的真相也不断揭开。为了接近红色女皇，小队成员必须在这个象蜂巢一样的迷宫里，穿过一连串一个比一个恐怖的障碍。其中包括致命的激光、异型犬爪和一个巨大的样品屋，在这个样品屋里艾丽斯见识到了保护伞公司导致这场危机的邪恶研究成果。艾丽斯也很快发现了这些僵尸是该公司的一项最新的研究方案——变种T-病毒造成的结果。
T-病毒最初的设计方案是抗衰老、治疗神经方面的疾病，它具有激活死亡细胞的能力。艾丽斯意识到这肯定是一个神秘的破坏者偷走了这个病毒，并把它释放到“蜂巢”的空气中。这就是危机的爆发经过。谁会做这事呢？为什么要这样做？
面对这个巨型计算机，雷恩假意请红色女皇帮助他们。红色女皇同意了，但是坚持那些被感染的人一个也不允许逃走。当然，除非他们能首先找到克制这个病毒的反病毒。他们的有效办法就是利用遗传上的变种试验，也就是利用现在能摧毁所有僵尸的著名邪恶生物——"舔食者"(Licker)。"舔食者"每杀死一个人，他的力量就会增加，也使特遣队的工作更加危险。
特遣队能够及时打败红色女皇，在规定的时间内找到反病毒吗？或者，他们是否也会变成僵尸呢？如果能有人活着逃出邪恶“蜂巢”的话，会是谁？

.A crack team is sent to the 'Hive', the mighty Umbrella Corporation's secret underground lab complex, which was locked-down by it central computer 'Red Queen', after its staff of 5000 fell victim to nerve gas. They pick up the secret entrance-resident underground security couple, both suffering from amnesia because of the gas. The computer's crafty defense soon kills half of the team before whiz kid Chad Kaplan outsmarts it. Then they find the staff has been turned into cannibalistic zombies, while experimentally miss-bred hell-hounds complete the bloody inferno.
