在这部河的第三边剧情片中,Es la historia de Nicolás, un adolescente de 17 años que vive en una pequeña ciudad en Argentina. Su situación familiar es muy particular. Su padre, Jorge, un médico influyente de la zona, mantiene dos vidas paralelas. Una es la que comparte con su familia oficialmente reconocida. La otra es la que sostiene con una segunda mujer, con quien ha tenido tres hijos, pero a quienes no reconoce socialmente. Nicolás es el mayor de ellos. Sin embargo, Jorge ha decidido que Nicolás sea su sucesor en los negocios y en su profesión. Día a día lo presiona sin darle lugar a una palabra. Nicolás odia a su padre, pero también le teme. Además, ha visto a su madre sufrir por este hombre durante toda la vida. Ama a su familiar, pero descubre que no puede vivir más así.
Nico's father is leading a double life with two women, 17year-old Nico being the oldest child of the illegitimate family. While his father is absent half of the time and only caring about himself during the other half, Nico often has to assume the role of the man in the house, taking care not only of his full siblings, but also his half brother from the official family that his father brings along. He's not allowed into the official family in return though. As the story unfolds, the audience gets to witness his struggle for identity against his father's selfish attempts at parenting.
