                    Staff Sergeant Shane Kennedy ( ) has two loves: his family and the Marine Corps. The latter required him to sacrifice a year with the former when he deployed to Iraq and as the story unfolds it is revealed that Shane sacrificed more than just time with his wife Cathy ( ) and their six month old daughter who Shane meets for the first time ever when the Kennedys are reunited. His wife initially thinks he's just going through a period of readjustment and tries to help cover for the occasional lapses but soon his mental health and violent outbursts gives her cause to question his sanity and their family's safety. After a brutal flashback results in domestic violence, she begs Shane to get help but he refuses. With his parents coming into town to see their son turned Marine "war hero" she struggles with how to save her husband, her family, and herself.
