The unmarried judge realizes there is a void in his life, and the student's wife and the judge are attracted to each other, trying but ultimately failing to fight their lustful leanings. Although the two renounce the affair, the friendship of the trio in broken beyond repair.
Screenwriter Zvonimir Berkovic made his debut here as a director with this classic B&W drama. Every Sunday, Mladen (Stevo Zigon) comes to play chess with his friend, the sculptor Fedja and gradually falls into an affair with the sculptor's wife Neda.
