Journeying from Kume's mountaintop monastery to a sacred temple ruins, the lovers encounter demon attacks, jealous suitors, murderous soldiers, and singing dreams as they are propelled towards their ultimate fate. Based on the classic Japanese bunraku play 'Love Suicides at the Women's Temple' by Chikamatsu Monzaemon.
