在这部The White Seal片中,This is a Chuck Jones animated feature, one of three 30-minute adaptations he made of short stories from Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book.
It tells the story of a young seal pup, Kotick, with a rare white coloring. As he matures, he learns of the deadly threat that human hunters pose to the seals, and begins searching for a place where the seals can live in peace...
Jones' adaptation of 'Rikki-Tikki-Tavi' is the more famous of this set (he also adapted the Jungle Book story 'Mowgli's Brother), all following after his popular animated treatment of 'The Cricket in Times Square'. These short features all have a signature Jonesian appeal, but to my mind, this is by far the best of the lot.
This was my FAVORITE viewing fodder from age 2-5 or so, and it's a great thing to throw on if you do have a kid around, but hey, my old VHS says "suitable for all ages". The colors, the voices, the weird near-psychedelic "horror" sequence... not to mention the gorgeous score adapted from Beethoven's Sixth Symphony. This shit's delightful. Enjoy.
