The Film became a big success, but with time all copies of Värmlänningarna were thought to be lost. In may 1992 three Swedish film researchers travelled to Moscow to visit the soviet film archive. To their big surprise they found there a copy of Värmlänningarna, with Russian intertitles.
The Swedish Film Institute restored the film with support of the Värmland Film. The russian intertitles were replaced with the Swedish originals.
Anna is a poor girl who loves Erik, the son of a rich farmer. His parents are however determined to make Erik marry the rich Britta.
