Filled with in-jokes, movie references, bleeped-out dialogue, and borscht-belt groaners, HOT TIMES was first appreciated by Jonathan Rosenbaum in a 1976 review that compared the film to Preston Sturges and R. Crumb and called it “alive, goofy, and unpredictable.”
