Two detectives try to discover the identity of the sender, but their task is complicated when the infant child of prominent Morton Wells is kidnapped. The detectives develop information that leads them to a mysterious robed figure, who they follow to the home of the town's religious leader, Bishop Filbert, whose daughter Allayne has received one of the "poison pen" letters.
