本片历时两年时间纪录製作拍摄完成，以真实的故事，探讨听障者的族群认同。真切地表达了听障人士的文化观点，并清楚呈现听障世界与有声世界不同的思考模式。
导演乔许．艾罗森（Josh Aronson）与监製罗奇威士伯葛
（Roger Weisberg）过去就有深厚的合作经验，这次更与从事听障文化艺
术教育工作、同时也是来自听障家庭的瑞奇．罗丝（Jackie Roth）共同合
作，直接又明瞭地切入了听障者的内心世界。
执导电视影集、纪录片已超过15年的乔许．艾罗森（Josh Aronson），电视创作经验相当丰富。2000年更以作品《无声的呐喊》（Sound and Fury）入围2001年奥斯卡金像奖最佳纪录片，深受各界注目。
以平面摄影起家，原为Time等知名杂誌之自由工作者，1985年与朋友在纽约合组製作公司，拍摄过数以百计之电视广告与MTV。1995年起，他更跨入报导与纪录片领域。
作品包括《数位音乐十年回顾》（A Decade of Digital Sound）；社会关怀纪录片--

For Peter Artinian and his wife, both of whom are deaf, a surgical ear implant for their five-year-old daughter Heather means a choice between two worlds - an unfamiliar hearing world and the deaf world, a robust culture in its own right united by a uniquely visual and artistic language.
