The film also tells the story of Witold Pilecki’s fate at the hands of the Communist government after the end of WWII. The film is a reconstruction of the trial which took place in Warsaw during the communist regime in Poland. Captain Pilecki described his investigation as more cruel than his stay at Auschwitz. In 1948 Witold Pilecki was sentenced to death and executed.
The main hero is a historical personage Witold Pilecki, a cavalry Captain, who voluntarily entered German Concentration Camp Auschwitz, organized resistance there and a channel of communication to pass information, as well as escaped from the camp, went abroad to convey the information about concentration camp to the alliance forces and came back to Polish People's Republic where he was imprisoned and appallingly tortured. The teleplay is focused on the excessive brutality of enquiries against him and on the trial during which he was falsely accused as well as on his indomitableness and perseverance.
