Somalata, a woman mortician, works with Piyasiri. Despite being so close to death all the time, she also has strong sexual urges that she is constantly suppressing. The end result of that is the delicate relationship between Somalata, Piyasiri and their friend and architect, Wishwa, remaining tranquil. Somalata’s desire is reflected in the movie’s title; it is a drizzling rain that is gone before it even hits the ground. At times, human fate is cruel. Somalata is not able to escape from this cruel bond of fate:She is able to cosmeticize the dead, but can’t do it for herself.
